Monthly News and Updates

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.  — John Lubbock

Hello Fellow Coaches and Friends of Sacramento

It is summer, one of my favorite times of the year.  Summer is about taking time out to refocus, rejuvenate, and revitalize your mind, body, and soul.  But what does it really mean;

  • Refocus — to look at the things you have done or are planning to do, and readjust if necessary or  start again in a different way. Do you have business or personal goals you might want to refocus?
  • Rejuvenate — to add some zest of life into the things you are doing.  Are you in a rut with your coaching practice and looking for ways to bring some enthusiasm into what you are doing?
  • Revitalize — to give new life, energy, activity, or success to something.  How do you spark a burst of energy into yourself or your practice?

I don't have the answers to those questions, but it is something to ponder as we embrace summer.  To that end, the board of directors met on June 29th to review our strategic plans and to brainstorm ways to realign the remainder of the year and the start of 2020.  We will share the details with you all in a couple of months.

Experience Coaching

#ExperienceCoaching

The newest video in the #ExperienceCoaching series was released last week! This one focuses on executive Judy Clark of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and how coaching with Suzanne Ricard-Greenway, PCC, helped her become more aligned with her values and take on a more significant role in her organization. Watch Judy's story here.  Judy's story is the third video in the #ExperienceCoaching testimonial series, which shares compelling stories of ordinary people who, because of coaching, were able to overcome obstacles and achieve extraordinary things. You can watch the first three videos here.  ICF is actively looking for new stories for the next season of the #ExperienceCoaching series! Would you like to be featured in a video? If so, encourage your clients to submit their stories now at www.experiencecoaching.com/share-your-story.

News from ICF Global

ICF Foundation Gift of Coaching

Community work is a goal for our chapter in 2020.  We have the opportunity to partner with a nonprofit organization to make a difference in our community.   Since 2015, the ICF Foundation's Gift of Coaching Awards program has celebrated ICF Chapters with impactful pro bono coaching initiatives that make a difference in their communities and the world. Our goal as a chapter is to win this award in 2020/2021.  We will be looking to build a committee with you all as we brainstorm possible non-profits our Chapter would want to partner in our community.  Please stay tuned for more information or if you are interested in leading the committee contact Michele Tevis at michele@i2ecoaching.com.

2019 Global Coaching Survey: THANK YOU!

Congratulations! Thanks to you and our ICF Chapter, California has received more than 100 responses to the2019 ICF Global Coaching Survey. It is an enormous achievement, and ICF Sacramento has much to be proud.   Also, ICF Sacramento will have access to localized survey data for California when we publish the survey results next year.  With more than five months remaining in the survey period, we want to help you continue to add responses in your region. That’s why we’ve prepared a toolkit of resources you can use as a 2019 Global Coaching Survey Champion to help you maximize participation in your community.

The Champions Toolkit contains email headers, social media graphics, talking points, and sample email copy you can use to promote the 2019 Global Coaching Survey in your community. It also includes GCS Champions word marks that you can download and use in your email signature, on your social media accounts, etc., to identify yourself as a Champion.
You can access this toolkit here:https://coachfederation.org/2019-global-coaching-survey-champions-resources.

Credential Holders Update

27,252: ICF Credential-holders
467: ICF Credential applications approved in May 2019

In May, ICF launched a new software platform designed to make it easier than ever for coaches to apply for and renew their credentials. With the new platform, coaches are able to: initiate and access a credential application or renewal application via their profile on the ICF website; complete applications over time, instead of all at once; monitor application status in real time; and begin logging CCEs toward renewal at any time after earning a credential. More information is available at https://coachfederation.org/credential-updates.

Part of the re-credential requirement is 3 CCEU's in Ethics.  Here is a free course ICF Global is offering to meeting the requirements.  https://coachfederation.org/ethics-cce-course.  Coleen Chandler, our newly appointed Credential Officer, will be reaching out to the coaches whose credential expires in December 2019 to provide assistance with the Global process.  If you have any questions or need immediate assistance you can contact Coleen at icfcoleen@yahoo.com, just remember she is in France and here response may be delayed due to time differences.
