Let your smile change the world. But don’t let the world change your smile.

           —And Life Grows

Hello Coaches and Friends of Sacramento,

As I sit here to write my president’s message my heart is heavy with sadness for the families in Gilroy, El Paso, and Dayton Ohio who have lost loved ones with these horrific mass shootings, and the sense of security, safety and freedom we all expect.  I am praying for peace and strength as these communities and families come together to start the process of healing and I honor them for their courage to move forward.

So, what can we do?  As Coaches, we’ll continue to be the best person we can, live the most fulfilled life that we can, shine our light as bright and as wide as possible so we can touch people in a way that transforms their lives and brings more peace to the world.

I wish you all a fantastic month of August!  Take the time to stop and smell the roses, cherish your loved ones, be kind to yourself and others, because that one act of kindness can make a difference.

Gratefully yours,  Michele

Get Involved and Volunteer
Please help us make 2020 an amazing year! Interested in being involved with the Chapter leadership? We’re always looking for volunteers to help with events or more long-term with the Board. Our Chapter operates with a Board of Directors who meet the last Monday of each month via a Zoom video conference call.  If you have specific experiences like program planning,  public relations, marketing, administration or social media, or would like to stretch your leadership skills and help drive strategic direction for the Chapter.  We are in search of a  Director of Public Relations, Director of Strategic Alliances, Director of Finance (Treasurer), Director of Professional Development and a Director of Administration Assistance (Secretary), Director of Public Relations/Marketing and Director at Large.   These positions will serve on the 2020 year board, and some of the terms will be a two-year commitment. You can find the contact information for the current Board of Directors here and request copies of our past meeting minutes. Contact Michele Tevis, President, at jmtevis@att.net  or Melna Jones, President-Elect, at mjones@simplyleadcoaching.com for more information.
SAHRA Conference

It is our third year participating at the SAHRA conference, and we are incredibly excited.   What is different this year is the board of directors decided to be a sponsor at the meeting.   We are one of the speakers in their educational program to share the value of coaching conversations with managers, individuals, and teams on the first day of the meeting.   Also, when they need an external coach come to ICF Sacramento to find a coach.  And we will have marketing material on the conference program and in the swag bags.  With that, our chapter has a unique and exciting opportunity to showcase what coaching can do for career professionals, and we would like YOU to represent the best of coaching.

We need you to volunteer your skills and time in the following capacities:
9/16 – 2 volunteers to set up our Sacramento ICF Conference Expo Booth
9/17 & 9/18 – 6 volunteers to greet and speak with conference attendees @ the booth
9/17 & 9/18 – 8 volunteers each day to provide 15-minute sample coaching sessions.

Please submit via email to dawn_karner@yahoo.com by Friday, August 16th your availability.    We ask that you indicate your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice of day/time to volunteer.  We will do our best to give you your first choice.

News from ICF Global

ICF Foundation Gift of Coaching

Community work is a goal for our chapter in 2020.  We have the opportunity to partner with a nonprofit organization to make a difference in our community.   Since 2015, the ICF Foundation's Gift of Coaching Awards program has celebrated ICF Chapters with impactful pro bono coaching initiatives that make a difference in their communities and the world. Our goal as a chapter is to win this award in 2020/2021.  We will be looking to build a committee with you all as we brainstorm possible non-profits our Chapter would want to partner in our community.  Please stay tuned for more information or if you are interested in leading the committee contact Michele Tevis at michele@i2ecoaching.com.

Credential Holders Update

27,619: ICF Credential-holders
500: ICF Credential applications approved in July 2019

In May, ICF launched a new software platform designed to make it easier than ever for coaches to apply for and renew their credentials. With the new platform, coaches are able to: initiate and access a credential application or renewal application via their profile on the ICF website; complete applications over time, instead of all at once; monitor application status in real time; and begin logging CCEs toward renewal at any time after earning a credential. More information is available at https://coachfederation.org/credential-updates.

Part of the re-credential requirement is 3 CCEU's in Ethics.  Here is a free course ICF Global is offering to meeting the requirements.  https://coachfederation.org/ethics-cce-course.  Coleen Chandler, our newly appointed Credential Officer, will be reaching out to the coaches whose credential expires in December 2019 to provide assistance with the Global process.  If you have any questions or need immediate assistance you can contact Coleen at icfcoleen@yahoo.com, just remember she is in France and here response may be delayed due to time differences.
