Presidents Message

Hello ICF Sacramento Community!

August is the time to reap what you’ve sown-literally, as most summer vegetables are ready to be harvested.  It goes without saying then, that August then is a time to celebrate a good harvest and a great summer!

Our community is also reaping a good harvest and benefits from the great work our Ignite coaches have put into the pro-bono Ignite program.  This year we have focused on education with the intention of creating a coaching ripple effect throughout our community.  In July 2021, Sacramento ICF’s inaugural Ignite Program hit the midpoint of the engagement, which began in April and ends in October.  To gauge both client and coach experiences and to make any needed adjustments, we created a survey for each group.  The results tell us that the ripple effect is happening and been felt in a big way.  Ninety-two percent of clients surveyed said they were making progress toward their goals because of coaching and ninety-six percent said they would recommend coaching to others.

Here are a few examples of what the clients have said about their Ignite coaching experience:

“Typically, I reflect on experiences, challenges, and/or concerns on my own, but through coaching, I have been able to state my reflections and realizations verbally, which have also led to greater connections.”

“My coach is getting me to think differently.”

“I am learning how to find solutions to my challenges from within myself.”

“Having another person to think through ideas with and a new perspective to consider is very helpful when approaching new visions and reaching goals.”

“I have a tendency to discount my skills and experiences, my coach has helped me come up with evidence that gives me the confidence I need to move forward and advance my career.”

“It's helpful for someone to ask questions to get me to figure out what's important or the next task, instead of telling me.”

ICF Sacramento will continue to serve our communities through the Ignite program in 2022.  If you would like to be considered to be one of our pro-bono coaches for next year or if you have a non-profit organization whose leadership would benefit from the Ignite programs pro-bono coaching let us know.

Credentialing

Are you having difficulties navigating the rules and requirements of the ICF Global credentialing process?

Do you have questions about renewing your credential or applying for a new one?

Help is on the way.

Coleen Chandler, PCC, created the new position of Credentialing Director to help ICF Sacramento chapter members with all their credentialing questions.

A typical conversation with Coleen may center on:

  • Clarifying the validity of coaching training hours for renewal or acquisition of a new credential - depending on where and when they were obtained

  • Explaining the various requirements to apply for a credential via the three credentialing paths (ACTP, ACSTH and Portfolio). Each case is different and may require adjustments.

  • Answering questions about either renewing one’s credential or going for the next credential level

  • Providing tips and explanation about the Coaching Knowledge Assessment (CKA)

  • Going over the members’ CCE units to make sure they have the proper combination of CCEUs to qualify to renew their credential

  • What to do if a credential has expired

“My mission is to make the credentialing process simpler and more enjoyable”, says Coleen. “And I love helping ICF Sacramento members grow professionally, and gain the confidence and knowledge to move forward in their credentialing journey.”
