Presidents Message

Dear ICF Sacramento Community,

Welcome to October 2021

October is my favorite month of the year, the Halloween decor, the crunchy leaves, the changing weather, the sports.  October seems to have something for everyone and encourages you to relax and find your inner kid again.

October is all about enjoying the beauty of the last waning days of the year before the onslaught of holiday planning and New Year's resolution-making sets in.  As the brilliant L.M. Montgomery wrote in Anne of Green Gables, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."

As October wanes, and as I reflect on this past year as your Chapter President I am amazed and impressed with the intelligent and engaging programs the volunteers of ICF Sacramento Chapter created to serve our community of Coaches, those in the Sacramento area and across the globe.

During our events, it's not unusual to see faces from all over California, and it's also not uncommon to see faces from the rest of the USA, and beyond to the UK, Australia, China, or India.  Because of our amazing board members and volunteers our reach is global.  Together, we have made a global impact and provided content that helps people connect and grow their potential.

We don't become that good by accident.  We become that good because of our volunteers' dedication, passion, energy, intellect, and time.

We invite you to become part of an innovative group of ICF coaches and volunteer a few hours a month or more to make 2022 even better than our previous years!

Be involved, volunteer for things where you can use your strengths, stretch your learning and be involved in a supportive community of practice.  Help us, your fellow coaches coach more, coach better and coach connect.

Laurie Cozart

President, ICF Sacramento

Member News

As we look forward to 2022 please take a moment to vote for next year's Board of Directors

All positions are elected except for President and Past President, as both of those positions are dictated by prior election results (e.g. President Elect becomes President the following year without another election, and Past President is the role given to the outgoing President.)

Each term is for one year. A member may serve additional consecutive terms in the same elected position, except for the President and President-Elect positions, which are a one-year term only.

Please vote for each position.

Credentialing

Are you having difficulties navigating the rules and requirements of the ICF Global credentialing process?

Do you have questions about renewing your credential or applying for a new one?

Help is on the way.

Coleen Chandler, PCC, created the new position of Credentialing Director to help ICF Sacramento chapter members with all their credentialing questions.

A typical conversation with Coleen may center on:

  • Clarifying the validity of coaching training hours for renewal or acquisition of a new credential - depending on where and when they were obtained

  • Explaining the various requirements to apply for a credential via the three credentialing paths (ACTP, ACSTH and Portfolio). Each case is different and may require adjustments.

  • Answering questions about either renewing one’s credential or going for the next credential level

  • Providing tips and explanation about the Coaching Knowledge Assessment (CKA)

  • Going over the members’ CCE units to make sure they have the proper combination of CCEUs to qualify to renew their credential

  • What to do if a credential has expired

“My mission is to make the credentialing process simpler and more enjoyable”, says Coleen. “And I love helping ICF Sacramento members grow professionally, and gain the confidence and knowledge to move forward in their credentialing journey.”

ICF Volunteer Engagement Opportunities

ICF takes pride in the work of our volunteers.  Volunteers in the ICF ecosystem are the backbone of our organization.  We are constantly amazed by the talent and dedication of all our volunteers, and we could not do the work that we do without your time and dedication.

Throughout the year, there are a number of volunteer opportunities that arise across theICF ecosystem, within each of the six Family Organizations, as well as within our Shared Services.  In addition to being a Chapter Leader, these opportunities include serving as a:

  • Board Director
  • Nominations Committee Member
  • Independent Review Board Member
  • Community of Practice Leader
  • ICF Awards Evaluator

If you have interest in volunteering for ICF, please fill out this form.  Our ICF Volunteer Engagement Director Anik Clemens will be in touch with you when a volunteer opportunity arises that meets your interests and skills.
