President's Message
Steve-Robin-Feb2023

Greetings ICF Sacramento Coaches and Community! I hope your year is getting off to a great start.

If you watched the short video promoting our February 14th Chapter Meeting “For the Love of Coaching,” you might recognize this picture and be wondering why your President is so cozy with the Associate Director of Programs. Well, let me introduce my wife Robin Matthews! We thought it would be a fun way to promote the meeting that she and the Director of Programs, Katie Kanowsky, have been planning. You’ll meet many of the Chapter Officers and learn about the programs they lead. You’ll connect, contribute, and share what you love about coaching. Take a moment to review the details and sign up if you can make it. We’d love to see you!

Robin and I fell in love with coaching when we took our coach training program together. We fell in love a long time before that but that’s another story. Having raised our kids and being empty nesters we found the opportunity to enrich our lives and support others through coaching was what we wanted to do through the rest of our working lives. We work independently, and together, but are sharing in the journey together.

This month I’d encourage you to reflect on why you answered the call to coach and what you do, or need to do, to keep the love alive! As always please feel free to reach out to me at president@icfsacramento.org at any time.

Ignite Update

In January, Ignite launched its first pro bono coaching project of 2023 with partner organization Sacramento State University’s EdD program.

Two more pro bono coaching projects are starting in March, so it’s not too late to become involved!  Ignite coaches benefit by:

  • Gaining pro bono coaching hours towards your ICF credential

  • Participating in monthly (optional) Supervision & Best Practices sessions

  • Partnering with a social impact leader/advocate for a 6-month engagement

Ignite coaching opportunities will be open to those working towards their ACC, ICF credentialed coaches, and especially credentialed coaches who identify as BIPOC. Interested coaches should complete the Coach Volunteer Form by February 28th and contact Tracy Kreiss with questions.
