BEACON Annual Cultural Competency Workshop:
The Space Between Words – Inclusion in Real Coaching Conversations

DATE:
June 10, 2026
TIME:
Noon - 1:00pm Pacific Time

LOCATION: Zoom

This workshop supports our chapter’s DEIB initiative, BEACON (Belonging, Equity, Access Coaching Opportunity Network), and our continued commitment to embedding DEIB into how we lead and serve across every program, partnership, and member experience.

Join us for this year’s Annual Cultural Competency Workshop, an important learning experience that supports our chapter’s ongoing DEIB commitment and alignment with ICF Global.

In this interactive session, ICF Global DEIB leaders Dr. Jennifer Koster and Sarah Masoud will explore how inclusion is experienced in real coaching conversations, not just in theory.

Through live role play demonstrations, we’ll examine how communication style, cultural assumptions, neurodiversity, identity, and power dynamics can shape trust, safety, and client outcomes in coaching spaces.

Together, we’ll unpack subtle coaching moments that either deepen belonging or unintentionally create exclusion, while practicing approaches grounded in cultural humility, inclusive communication, and client-centered awareness.

Walk away able to:

  • Identify how communication styles, cultural norms, and power dynamics influence coaching interactions

  • Recognize coaching behaviors that may unintentionally create exclusion, misunderstanding, or identity fatigue

  • Apply inclusive coaching strategies that foster trust, psychological safety, and culturally responsive communication

  • Practice real-time coaching adjustments that support neurodiverse and culturally diverse clients without coaching toward assimilation

ICF Sacramento is committed to BEACON meetings being accessible to everyone — cost should never be a barrier to joining us. You can use code BEACON0626 at checkout to register at no charge. We’d love to have you join us.
